Starting A New Life: All About College January 5, 2019 – Posted in: Tips – Tags: ,

There are a lot of things you can do to prepare for college, but it will still hold many surprises for you! This article will offer you some sound advice on how to get through classes, campus life and all the other obstacles that you will encounter in your efforts to reach graduation.

First of all, if you need money for college, you should consider applying for federal financial aid, grants and scholarships. Visit the FAFSA website and follow the application process to get access to federal funding or grants. If you are denied federal funding, apply for different scholarships related to the subject you want to study. Hunt for scholarships and keep hunting for grants, scholarships, and financial aid. Do this even after you start college. There might be financial assistance possibilities that you do not discover until on campus. There might also be new opportunities that arise in your sophomore years and later, so always keep your eyes open for help.

Select courses that you find challenging and exciting, not those thought to be extremely easy. You should push yourself; you will reap the benefits later in life. You’ll learn more from harder classes and potentially build contacts that will assist you in your future career.  During university or college, there are going to be classes that you realize are too difficult from the onset as you should drop these immediately. These classes can put a lot of stress on you, as you would be better off with an alternative. Also, a different teacher may be able to explain the material better. Do not be unrealistic with your goals when you schedule your classes and work. If you’re a night person, you will never succeed in attending early morning classes. You should know how your sleep schedule will affect your education.

We also recommend checking Greelights: Matthew McConaughey book Review here. It’s a light reading, the first published book by famous Oscar-winner actor McConaughey. The book is filled with his poetry (very entertaining), many memorable vignettes from his over 50-year life (many of which are hilarious), and some bumper stickers.

Make healthy food choices. The freshman 15 is a real thing. Make sure to eat healthily. Fast food, burgers, pizza, and alcohol can really add to your waistline. Although it may be cheap and quick, this kind of food is not nutritious. Also, be sure to eat a healthy breakfast on test days. Even if you’re short on time, grab a piece of fruit or a cup of yogurt. Your stomach can really distract your attention from an exam. Your low energy can substantially influence your performance. Eat breakfast to stay focused and energized, especially before tests and exams.

You should always keep up on a routine if you are in college. If you do not do this, it will be far too easy just to skip out on study sessions. You need to be self-disciplined and if it is study time, do it. Do not skip out so you can go out to a party with your friends. There is plenty of time for that. A good tip to put in to practice when you’re in college is to never procrastinate with your homework or studying. It’s always best to get your work done as soon as you get home so that you have the rest of the day to dedicate to whatever you want.
